After the summer holidays, it has been brilliant to welcome so many children, young people and families back to Riverview this week. And there’s already lots happening. Over in West Thurrock, we’re continuing to build relationships with local young people through our outreach work. But we’re not turning up with a ready-made plan and telling young people what we think they need. We’re asking them. Young people have been incredibly helpful in sharing their views, talking about their community and contributing to consultation that will help shape what Riverview develops in West Thurrock longer term. How amazing is that? Young people helping to shape the services that could be there for the next generation of young people. 💡 Back in Purfleet, we also heard something this week that reminded us why the everyday work matters so much. One mum, whose child has been attending our First Steps programme, told us: “It's been so good to have somewhere locally to take my child. A big thank you to CLdN in Purfleet for supporting Riverview with some incredibly useful donations. 💙 Their team recently donated nappies to support our Nappy Bank, helping us provide practical support to local families when they need it. They have also donated a fantastic selection of toiletries which will help us develop resources for our Girls’ Wellbeing programme – giving young women access to essential items alongside the wellbeing, mentoring and support we provide. These might sound like simple everyday items, but when you’re working directly with children, young people and families, you quickly realise just how important everyday things can be. We’re really grateful to have businesses on our doorstep that want to get involved and support their local community.
